Welcome to year four. We’re continually working to improve the event... here’s what we have:

• Relocating Friday packet pickup/registration to the Virgil Fire Department at the Virgil crossroads (1195 West State Road). Access to their kitchen should allow them to better provide the sheer quantity of carbohydrates consumed by increasing numbers.
• Moving the start back to 08:00 Saturday morning for the 100 mile relay and adding the inaugural Virgil Crest 50K. Start time for the 50K will be 08:00 Sunday morning and have a 10 hour cut-off time.
• Staging area to remain at gorgeous Hope Lake Park, the park open to informal camping on a first come, first serve basis for entrants.
• Slightly revised course to bring it back to 50/100 miles via snipping the loop off of Vinnedge Rd around mile 1 and revising the Greek Peak Alpine loop to make use of new trail and a sweet utility road that I didn’t know existed.
• The climbing…yeah, it’s still here. This year, roughly 7K for the 50K, just over 10K for the 50, and 20K for the 100. You’re that tough.
• Composition: out-back format for the 50 consisting of 4% Nordic or alpine ski slopes, 4% paved, 14% dirt/gravel seasonal road, 78% singletrack trail.
• Increased community support from the Finger Lakes Runners Club (taking on Daisy Hollow Rd), the Ithaca Triathlon Club (Lift House 5), UltraRunning Matters (the Rock Pile), the Virgil Community (Hope Lake Park), and the Pennsylvania connection and WuTang Clan (the Gravel Pit).
• Support in products from Nature’s Chemistry, getting Chia on the course, and Atayne, pitching in on the use of their 100% recycled long sleeve tech shirts.
